Simon Marquez is an up-and-coming artist helping to represent the new generation of flamenco in Arizona. He performs traditional flamenco guitar repertoire by prominent artists such as Paco de Lucia and Vicente Amigo as well as vibrant original compositions. First beginning his studies with the classical guitar, he soon became enraptured by the fiery intensity and emotional expression of flamenco and devoted himself completely to studying the art with guitarist Kristofer Hill.
Simon strives to seek as much knowledge and experience as possible with other flamencos from near and far, studying guitar with Kris Hill, Misael Barraza-Diaz (PhD), and Juani de la Isla, and accompanying the dance studios of Francisca Nava and Liliana de Leon. Simon believes in the healing power of music and hopes that his audiences will experience the profundity he communicates through his music.
